Up for auction is 1 ALMOST PERFECT US GLASS (TIFFIN) 11.5 "DELAWARE PATTERN 1899 CRANBERRY FLASHED WITH GOLD PAINTED LEAVES AND FLOWERS OBLONG CENTERPIECE BOWL. It has no scratches which is absolutely amazing because its manu-facturing began in 1899 making it close to 121 years old, and it has only one very small "ding" that I just found on the bottom rim of the bowl, that can be seen in photographs # 4 and # 5, but cannot be seen when the bowl is being used. The cranberry flashing is also in great condition, with only a very small amount of loss near the bottom rim and along the top edge, as can be seen in the photographs. The top glass rim of the bowl that you see and touch is in absolutely mint condition, but is missing a lot of the gold trim on the top rim; the rest of the gold on the bowl is in al- most excellent condition as can be seen in the photographs. This glass bowl comes from a bye-gone era when American manufacturing was an "art", as can be seen from the gorgeously designed pattern of cranberry flashed stippling and hand painted gold leaves, stems, and flowers. Believe me, it is absolutely gorgeous. It probably took over 5 people to create this glass, from mixing and heating up the sand and color ingredients to the proper temperature, to pressing the bowl into the mold and polishing it, and then hand painting the gold onto the floral pattern. I only wish I had more because it is so beautiful. It actually measures 11.5 inches long and is about 7 inches across, and stands about 4 inches tall, and weighs almost 3 pounds. It was purchased from a very old estate sale on Long Island. Although it was pre-owned, and except for that one "ding" on the bottom rim and some loss of flashing and the top gold rim, it is otherwise in perfect condition, as can be seen in the photographs. I found it inside a closed dining room cabinet on the top shelf where it seemed to have sat there for many years and was hardly used, because there are so few scratches anywhere on the bowl that I can see, especially on the bottom. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can. I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, scratches, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on the bowl except for those already mentioned above. It comes from a smoke-free home.
