This very early vintage Nemadji Garden of the Gods jug is extra special as it came from the studio of Eric Hellman, the inventor of the style. (See last images for Hellman’s history.) This one is NOT signed; I have others up for auction that are not signed from the same place. Hellman discovered this distinctive style of dipped pottery with its psychadelic swirls in response to being hired by Nemadji pottery to help them come up with this distinctive look, after he had worked at the famed Van Briggle pottery for many years. I believe this may be an early experiment, as it has a deep cobalt green glaze in the interior, which is unusual. This pot measures 2” tall and 2.5” in diameter. Very special little piece of pottery!
