This is an antique Art Nouveau tile, likely produced around 1900 by the German manufacturer Norddeutsche Steingutfabrik aka NSTG Grohn. The tile features an embossed, stylized image of a sailing ship, created using the dust-pressed technique. It showcases typical art nouveau characteristics, including a stylized floral border and a distinctive craquelure (fine network of cracks) glaze. The design, depicting a clipper ship seen through a stylized "porthole" or window, is a known design from the manufacturer. Measures 6" x 6" and the colors are gorgeous! Weight is over a pound on my scale. Has some crazing to the glaze finish which is consistent with its age. See all photos!
