This is a rare museum quality art glass Saint-Louis footed bowl signed "Art Verrierre S L". It is hand blown glass with a controlled bubble design on the bowl banded with a cased 3 layer top (clear/deep burgundy red/ milk glass) with a black rim both on the top and bottom and with a black rim under the bubble glass bowl and around the base. It is a design by Paul Nicholas who starting in 1893-1919 worked with Emile Galle at Nancy, went on to design with the Nancy school, opened his own design business in 1920s and worked for Saint-Louis glass in Lorraine as head of art glass design starting in 1919 until WWII. He earned Honors prizes in the 1925 and 1937 Paris Expositions. His work is shown in many museums worldwide. eg: Musee Ecole de Nancy, Corning glass Museum US.
