Created in the 19th century, these delightful figurines, depict Jobson and Nell, the central characters from a popular 18th century ballad, opera that remained a cultural staple in England throughout the 19th century. Jobson, a lowly cobbler, is shown seated on a stool working on a shoe with a dog peeking out from underneath. His wife, Nell, holds a jug and cup. Look closely and you’ll see a cat under her stool. As typical for this era, these figures are unmarked. The colorful finishes in Victorian attire make these a wonderful addition for any collector. Condition of the figures are commensurate with the age of the item showing some scratches and wear. Please see photos.
