The scene flawlessly captures a courtly trio relaxing in an idyllic pastoral park, highlighted by a gentleman playing a luxury musette de cour (aristocratic bellows-blown bagpipe). The central hand-painted vignette is a masterful, highly detailed reproduction of “The Bagpipe Player” (Le Joueur de Musette) by the celebrated French Rococo master Jean-Baptiste Pater (1695–1736), who was Jean-Antoine Watteau’s sole formal pupil.
