Vintage Treasure Craft Sprite Tree Trunk Pottery Vase. A smiling sprite in a green outfit kneels on some leaves, beside a green tree trunk. Green glazed ceramic pottery with hand-painted sprite face. About 5 3/4" tall and 5" wide. Original label on the base, " Treasure Craft , South Gate California ". Treasure Craft was founded in 1947 by Alfred Levin, and manufactured pottery in South Gate, California, until a larger factory was bought in Compton, CA, in 1957. By 1957, Treasure Craft labels and marks state " Compton ". Treasure Craft pottery with the " South Gate " label were produced between 1947 and 1957. The several kinds of sprites, called " Lucky California Sprites ", were some of the earliest items produced by Treasure Craft. This small flower vase is generally in good condition, except for two small chips on the back edge of the plant leaf at the sprite's feet. Carefully packed for shipment to the buyer.
